Dataverse (Microsoft)

Microsoft's cloud-based data platform underlying Dynamics 365, providing a unified data model for managing freight operations data with native Power Platform integration for workflow automation.

Microsoft Dataverse (formerly Common Data Service) is the data platform that underpins Microsoft Dynamics 365 and the broader Power Platform ecosystem. It provides a secure, scalable, and standards-based data store with a rich metadata model, built-in business logic, data validation, and role-based access control. For freight forwarders running Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management or Dynamics 365 Business Central, Dataverse is where all operational data — shipments, carriers, rates, documents, and financial transactions — is stored and managed.

In the context of freight forwarding operations, Dataverse's significance lies in its integration capabilities. The platform exposes data through standard OData APIs and supports event-driven automation through Power Automate flows. This makes it possible for AI systems to read and write freight data directly to and from Dynamics 365 without custom middleware — pushing extracted document data into shipment records, updating carrier information, and triggering downstream workflows automatically.

FreightMynd builds AI automation systems that integrate with Microsoft Dynamics 365 through the Dataverse API layer. Our 4PL control tower automation pushes AI-extracted document data directly into Dataverse tables, creating and updating shipment records, document references, and carrier data within Dynamics 365 — maintaining full data integrity and triggering any downstream Power Automate workflows automatically. This approach works with both Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management and Business Central deployments, adapting to your specific Dataverse schema and business logic.
